Killdeer are a species of bird found in the Territories.
Appearance and Characteristics[]
Killdeer can be found nesting in fields and other areas with gravel. It's a distinctive bird known for its "kill-deer" call and its broken wing ploy. If a predator gets too close to its nest, the killdeer will begin twittering, limping and feigning a broken wing. The bird will continue the act until it leads the predator way from the nest, at which point it takes flight and flees.
Killdeer spend their summers hunting insects in the Territories. In the winter, however, they head south.
