The Star-Nosed Mole is a bizarre-looking creature. Instead of typical nostrils at the end of its snout, it bears a pink, flower-like set of nasal rays. This creature creates burrows and tunnels near bodies of water from which it hunts worms, insects and fish. These animals are most active in the spring and early summer.
Generally not a problem for mice, star-nosed moles have been known to tunnel into mouse holds to plunder beetle and earthworm farms.
